Description:
The New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and its Affiliated Academic Medical Centers announces its search for the Director of the Health Sciences Library. The dean and faculty consider this an exceptional opportunity to lead a preeminent academic department in the City of New York, building a 21st-century medical library in close collaboration with the other schools and colleges of New York University. Reporting to the dean of the School of Medicine, with a “dotted line” report to the dean of NYU Libraries, the director will lead, shape, and oversee the work of about 40 staff, including 18 librarians and 8 professional staff, and has responsibility for ensuring the Health Sciences Library is a primary hub of knowledge management within NYU Langone Health and related schools and programs. The director also has responsibility for library branches at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, information services to the NYU College of Dentistry and support of graduate programs at several other NYU health sciences programs, and the De la Chapelle Medical Archives.

Salary:
$175,000, minimum

The Health Sciences Library serves NYU Langone Medical Center, one of the nation’s premier centers of excellence in health care, biomedical research, and medical education. For over 168 years, its physicians and researchers have made countless contributions to the practice and science of health care. The medical center consists of NYU School of Medicine, including the Smilow Research Center, the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine, a new science building (opening 2018), and the Sackler Institute of  Graduate Biomedical Sciences; the 4 hospitals of NYU Hospitals Center; Tisch Hospital; the new Kimmel Pavillion (opening 2018); the NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, a leader in musculoskeletal care; and NYU Langone–Brooklyn; as well as such major programs as the NYU Cancer Institute, the NYU Child Study Center, and the Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
