Description:
The Director of Libraries, in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, develops the vision for library services and the strategic plan for the library aligned with the mission of the University. The director leads all activities for planning, directing, and evaluating the services and resources of the Ische’ Library and the Dental Library of LSU Health Sciences Center, New Orleans. The director assures a high level of service to the faculty, staff and students of LSUHSC-NO. The director ensures excellent library services and resources are available to support the educational, research, health care, and service missions.The director ensures library resources and services meet the curricular needs of the colleges and the community. Serves as an advocate representing the library locally, regionally, and nationally. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an ALA accredited program
  • Five years in a library leadership role

Preferred qualifications:

  • Second Master's degree or PhD
  • Eligibility for membership in the MLA Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP)
  • Experience obtained in a health sciences library
