    Awards and Scholarships

     

    AAHSL Cornerstone Award

     

    The AAHSL Cornerstone Award is given to an individual, group, or institution selected by the association's Board of Directors. The award is given for a notable or important contribution made during the most recent four years that has assisted AAHSL in achieving its mission or had significant impact on the profession of academic health sciences librarianship.

     

    AAHSL Leadership Scholarships

     

    AAHSL Leadership Scholarships support leadership training for persons interested in developing skills relevant to becoming academic health sciences library directors. They may be used for participation in established educational programs or for individually designed learning opportunities. Reports from recipients evaluate their experience and indicate programs supported in the past.

     

    Innovation Award

     

    The Innovation Award is given to honor and acknowledge an AAHSL member library demonstrating innovative programs, products, services or projects in support of an area of knowledge management outlined in Building on Success: Charting the Future of Knowledge Management in the Academic Health Center.  AAHSL libraries are encouraged to apply for the award or nominate another AAHSL library.

     

    Matheson Lecture

     

    The AAHSL/GIR Nina Matheseon Lecture is presented at the AAMC meeting each year.


    New Directors Symposium

     

    The New Directors Symposium is designed to help new directors be successful as leaders in their institutions and to enhance familiarity with the community of their AAHSL peers. It includes sessions on administrative skills, meetings with leadership of selected organizations, and opportunities for discussion among newly appointed and experienced directors.

     

    NLM/AAHSL Leadership Fellows Program

     

    In response to the confirmed need for future leadership, the NLM/AAHSL Leadership Fellows Program is focused on preparing leaders for the position of library director in academic health sciences libraries.
