News File -- November 2007

Past editions of the AAHSL Annual Statistics are now available on the AAHSL web site. Older editions (22nd to 28th) are located under the Key Initiatives heading in the right navigation column > Annual Statistics > Archive Statistics > specific editions. These online editions correspond to their print equivalent, so you will have the Introduction, Composite Report, Survey Highlights and Five-year Trends along with the data tables available to read online. Only the 22nd edition is missing the data tables (and if anyone has a copy of this electronic file, please notify me). These editions will be located here they can be incorporated into the new Annual Statistics web site located at SUNY Buffalo (the same site that processes the current surveys).

New Website Changes

It was good seeing everyone at the AAHSL annual meeting two weeks ago. Several of you commented favorably on the changes to the web site and provided more ideas to improve the web site's functionality. These changes have been implemented and include a shortened News feature and a link to member web pages.

The shortened News feature reduces news items to a headline or label. By clicking More or following the arrow you will go to a new News page of the month. By reducing the length of the News feature, we raise the Spotlight feature closer to the top of the home page.

By the way, the new Spotlight is on the A.T. Still Memorial Library, A.T. Still University, Kirksville, MO.

Some of you have suggested a quick link to member web pages. Instead of 're-inventing the wheel' and pulling links from the membership directory, we have inserted a link beneath the Member Directory link that goes directly to the page maintained by Eric Ramsey of the Hardin Library of the Health Sciences, University of Iowa. Thanks to Eric for providing and maintaining this resource.

More changes are coming.
