Job Description

Directs the Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar Library including strategic planning, budgeting, marketing, administration, and leadership of employees in the Library. Develops and maintains the core services of a modern medical library. Maintains both traditional library services as well as leads the creation of new services to optimize the ability of students, faculty, and other library customers to locate information and use it proficiently to achieve their personal, professional, and institutional objectives.

Job Description

The Executive Director of The Texas Medical Center Library has the primary responsibility for envisioning and leading all activities to plan, direct and evaluate the services and resources of a private consortium library that serves a number of nationally and internationally prominent health related institutions including universities and hospitals in the world’s largest medical center and the fourth largest city in the United States. The Executive Director functions collaboratively with a Board of Directors comprised of faculty and administrative leaders of member institutions to achieve the Library’s mission to provide innovative support for the acquisition, management, and delivery of biomedical knowledge to the institutions of the Texas Medical Center.

The Associate Dean for Library Services and Archives will craft and execute a vision to continue to strengthen the library’s value for its constituents in this changing age of information management. S/he will harness the strengths of a highly talented staff through effective management, empowerment, inspiration, and leading by example. The Associate Dean will maximize resources provided for staffing, collections, services and special projects through sound judgement and strong financial acumen. Externally, the Associate Dean will be highly collaborative, complementing and broadening work across the Health Center and the greater University community through building strong and productive partnerships.

Director, Distributed eLibrary

Job Description

Established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation, WCM-Q is part of
Weill Cornell Medicine in New York and shares its mission of dedication to excellence in education,
patient care and research.

The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at university level, WCM-Q offers an
integrated program of pre-medical and medical studies leading to the Cornell University M.D. degree.
Teaching is by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty, including physicians at Hamad Medical Corporation
(HMC) who hold Weill Cornell appointments.

WCM-Q is in its 14th year of operation and is seeking a candidate for Director of the Distributed eLibrary.
Reporting directly to Dean, the incumbent will partner with other informatics thought leaders at WCM
and WCM-Q in imagining, creating, and managing a dynamic, modern information research facility to
support education, research, and clinical care for the next generation and beyond. Will be responsible for
the strategic planning, management, budgeting, marketing, and administration of library resources and
services as well as the Archives of the Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar Library. The Director will also be
critical in leading the Library through this transformation to a next generation facility.

Library Director, SUNY Downstate Medical Center
