The Diversity and Inclusion movement is moving into a new paradigm of action and implementation. With that movement, educational staff must shift towards greater self-awareness and implementing their knowledge into action. Conversely, the landscape of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) has greatly shifted due to recent changes in legislation involving affirmative action as well as the introduction of legislation in states to limit DEI at public universities and in k-12 schools. This presentation will review the concepts of multicultural education, implicit bias, microaggressions, and privilege. The presenter will facilitate several activities to demonstrate the concepts discussed and take a deep dive into personal bias. There will be a focus on experiential activities to reinforce the educational objectives. Lastly, participants will explore how to remain focused on key DEIB values despite the changing legislative climate.
